Honoring Rick Ploor's Battle with Stage 4 Metastasized Melanoma

We wanted to share Rick's inspiring journey as he fought stage 4 metastasized melanoma. Learn about his strength, courage, and the impact he made on melanoma research and awareness. Click Here

This photo of Rick was taken at the Ryder Cup one week after he was diagnosed with stage IV metastasized melanoma. Rick was not going to let this news stop him from living. The first year was a true battle and he faced every treatment with hope and a positive attitude. He never lost his sense of humor, always joking with the Nurses and Doctors, he was a favorite. He would take the time to ask how they were doing. Over the 6 and a half years Rick received immunotherapy treatments every 2 weeks, all while continuing to work. He had numerous radiation treatments, five surgeries, and participated in several clinical trials. He knew that the clinical trials may not help him but would help future patients. Each time we received bad news he would say, "OK, what's next Doc?". His courage and fearlessness was inspiring to all who knew him.
